Anyone conducting stockpile volume calculations?

What are the parameters giving you the most accurate results?

We recently undertook a field test study to better understand the relationship between GSD and accuracy of the volume calculations.

Curious to learn what others have found so far.

Hi Dave, contrary to popular belief, we're finding that there is no "absolute GSD" at which you can expect to get good results. A good GSD itself a function of what you are looking to measure and how "big" or "small" it should appear in the images for accurate results. However, on relative terms, lower GSD helps and after a certain limit the accuracy plateaus :)

Would love to hear thoughts and be good if you can share more!

Thanks for sharing, the .35cm, or about 3.5 millimeters, have I got that right?
Regards
That's correct. In this dataset, 0.35cm / 3.5mm per px yielded an OK result, however, much more accurate results were obtained at 0.18cm / 1.8mm per px. The optimal GSD might vary depending on the size of what you're measuring!
