Good morning all,

My name is Audiejohn Posadas, my current position with the JAA is in Airport and Spaceport Operations in Cecil Airport (VQQ). I am 1 of 2 Part 107 Pilots in the JAA and we would like to inform you, with the approval of our Airport Director and CEO, the JAA has obtained a Matrice 210 RTK to assist with Airport Operations.

The primary missions our sUAS will conduct, but not limited to, are:
  • Pavement Inspections
  • Airfield Markings
  • Rooftop and building/hangar integrity Inspection with our Tenant Compliance Program
  • Wildlife Fence and Perimeter Fence Inspections
  • GIS Integration and map creation – The JAA is currently utilizing ArcGIS and we can utilize the sUAS as a tool to create maps and surveys and share it with other GIS entities like FDOT and the FAA.
  • Assist with the Airport Airspace Analysis 14CFR Part 77.
  • Wildlife Mitigation, utilizing FLIR technology to locate heat signatures of any wildlife that might have breached our Wildlife Fence Perimeter.
  • Search and Rescue – working alongside JFRD Station 56 to deploy the sUAS in case of an airplane crash in the vicinity of the airport.
  • Airport Security – rapid deployment of the sUAS to any reported unauthorized/suspicious persons in our property.
We are working on obtaining all of the proper documents to fly inside NFZ's and to be 100% legal with the FAA.

Looking forward to engaging in discussions and hopefully gain more knowledge as I am now tasked in building the sUAS program for the Jacksonville Aviation Authority from the ground up!

Our Current setup consists of M210 RTK with a Z30 and XT2 camera. Backup/training sUAS consists of Inspire 1, Phantom 3, Mavic Pro, and Ryze Tello.

I'm in your neck of the woods performing commercial/residential building inspections. Reach out if you need some guidance on the inspection side of things. I'm retired military with an aerospace background and have base access.

Welcome! I was stationed there at Cecil Field with VFA-82 from '92-'96. I miss the place. From the looks of the satellite photos, they tore the barracks down. I would love to see some recent photos from there. Spent many a days walking the runways from one end, crossing over and walking back the dual runways for FOD walkdown. Good memories!

Hey Joe! A lot has changed since the Navy has left, though more than 90% of our air traffic is still military, we are classified as a General Aviation Airport. We still have plenty of F-18’s from Boeing and FRCSE, the QF-16 program from Boeing, F-15’s from FL air national guard comes around from Jax international, Blackhawks, Lakotas, and Chinooks from Army National Guard, Dolphin helicopters from USCG, and P-3’s from US Customs.

On the airport side, we are definitely growing. The old buildings are still being used like the old bldg 67 with the underground bomb shelters are still there, and the bunkers on the east side of 36R are still being utilized for storage (non-explosives).

IMG_1300.jpghere is a picture I took of a couple T-45s. They still come to Cecil for training every other month to perform tail hook landings on Whitehouse and perform their final landing quals when a carrier is nearby off the coast.

Great memories! I was in Orlando last week, but unfortunately didnt have time to swing through JAX. If I get that way anytime soon, I'll be sure to look you up. Thank you for the picture, it looks like you are down by the old 'hush-house' off 18R. Feel free to PM me any other pics you want. Merry Christmas to you!
