We are planning to start a 100 sUA drone show fleet in Los Angeles, California. We have solved the hardware and software technical barriers, but stuck at the waiver application. We are looking for experienced and knowledgeable consultant who dealt with these two waivers before and can optimize our waiver application.

Welcome to the forum @TerryN

While I'm sure you'll have no problem finding many of our members who have done ~107.29 waivers you're going to have a much more difficult time finding someone who is fluent in ~107.35 operations and can assist in that specific one.

As of the last update (it was before july 1st 2019) there were only 43 granted total. And of those several are to the same person/entity. In fact one person alone had (6) of them and many have 2 or more granted.

It's a very small "pool" you're pulling from so you may need to research for those individuals specifically one by one.

Good luck :)

Thank you for your concern. We developed a control software which allows 1 RPIC manipulates multiple sUA, the number can be up 500 sUA at least. This unmanned aircraft operation system has been tested and performed in Europe and China. Our weakness is the safety explanation. We have submitted waiver applications to FAA 2 month ago. The FAA felt us less risk mitigation and denied. Ourself risk evaluation is facing a bottleneck, so we want to hear other specialist's opinion about how to improve drone show safety.

What kind of lateral ground clearance are you looking at? There was a 100 drone show here at my employer, and they (the drone company) required like 1/4 mile exclusion zone for viewers.

We applied 1000 feet exclusion zone from viewers. But the question is how can we keep pedestrian out of this exclusion zone? Was the 100 drone show at yours conducted in a blocked area with fences?

You'll need to account for a physical barrier and you'll also need to allow for how to respond/enforce that should someone cross the physical barrier.

It's important to note that you want to also DO the things you put in the request. You never know when you're going to have a Ramp Check especially with something as high profile as this would be.

The area the drones were flying in is a fenced parking lot. The roads running up either side of it were closed and baracaded by plant security from about 15 minutes before the show until the show ended.

I fully agree with your point. The show operation might drain curious people to the operational area. The people will become potential hazards to the operation. As the responsible party, we have to have an effective plan of preventing non-participant's entrance. Headaching.......

That's a safe way to keep non-participants out. :)

Well, t wasn’t as effective as you might think because they had to send an electrician (me) to turn off the parking lot lights about 20 minutes before the show. I watched the show from directly below the flight operations area. (don’t recommend, the POV sucks)
