    Luanching Drone

Umm, yeah pretty sure it does. Not sure under what logic you think you are going to get a pass doing it that way. I mean unless you posses levitation tech what do you plan to park that car on or stand on while you fly there boss? If you are there for a commercial purpose (like, the city hired...

    Comparison of Ground Control Targets

I use the Sky High Bulls Eye myself, I love them. Super easy to store and pack in the field. They just stay in my work truck. I've found like a 3" Magnail holds them down perfect. If on pavement, I'll find a crack to drive it in so I can pull it up. My employer had a full set of Propeller GNSS...

    Flying over people

Yes it's common place for companies to disregard the rules or ask you to. Some of it is ignorance, some is apathy. At the end of the day if anything comes of it you are the one getting fined and sued if you get caught or something goes wrong, and some of them know you are going to get hit far...

Actually if you are a licensed operator you should know this already.....and that too is required for that mission.

    Flying over people

You are correct. There can be some exceptions if the drone meets certain requirements (weight limit, shielded props, ect.) I've yet to see any commonly available and useful drones meet these requirements. You can sometimes pull it off if you catch an area like that closed and have some help...

    Contour Maps and units

Oh, yeah, that's like a civil Engineering thing. They loathe giving you details. What they are doing is trying to cover up the fact they have no clue how any of this works.

    Contour Maps and units

I'm sure there are I've just never had need of them to look. This looks promising if you can figure out the input process of the multi point converter. 404 Error: Page Not Found https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/NCAT/ One thing that gets tricky is elevation. I frequently see problems resulting from...

    Contour Maps and units

It would be a different EPSG, probably one higher or lower in number is the same state plane but in US FT. You are right to process in the EPSG you were given GCPs in. If whoever gave you that wanted it in another unit they should have gave you GCP coords in that unit. I could do all that...

    Surveying questions

You have a lot of research to do because "surveying land" is very non specific wording so you first need to know what you are dealing with. A drone is but one tool in a surveyors bag of tricks, you won't be doing any complete survey with a drone. Some portions of it may be acquired by drone, but...

Anyone using a Sparkfun or ArduSimple RTK GPS?

Ohh I see. I thought you were getting NTRIP RTK to the base is why I thought 14 ft was terrible. Yes that is the same method I use with the Spectra. Here in KY access to the NTRIP is free, you just need an account with the Dept of Transportation which I have but have yet to take full advantage of.

Anyone using a Sparkfun or ArduSimple RTK GPS?

Very cool. Sounds like you did what I call an Autonomous setup? I'm not familiar with the moving base terminology. It could be corrected with a static observation I bet. I'm surprised it's 14ft off if it's RTK though. I thought that was almost as good as a base on a known point.

I have a few drones for sale.

Hello and welcome. Personally, I'd start here: Classifieds Posting Rules Then make a post in classifieds.

Anyone using a Sparkfun or ArduSimple RTK GPS?

I'm sure there is a way, but what I'd love to know about these is how to collect a static observation file in a Rinex format for OPUS translation. I'm assuming there is some way you can log the data but so far I haven't seen any documentation describing how you would go about it. I'm very...

Usefullness of Orthos in a CAD program?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Ortho in CAD is indeed very useful and I've even produced accurate surveys from them as a primary source, but a few prerequisite items to note. I do work for a PLS, so I can call it a survey. Furthermore it's used in conjunction with traditionally collected...

Anyone using a Sparkfun or ArduSimple RTK GPS?

No, but now I want one! I have a pair of Spectra SP-80's at work, but that should be more than adequate for GCP points. Might be a bit of a hassle to get all the software kinks worked out, but then again, did I mention I use an SP-80....
