Working the Grand Opening of an NHL Arena - TFR Questions

I've been working with the New York Islanders for over a year now to document the construction of their new UBS Arena at Belmont Park in Queens, NY. I've already received long-term airspace authorizations from the Drone Zone (it's in both LGA and JFK airspace), but I'm wondering about the...

Part 107 Recurrent Courses Are Finally Available!

After some delays which caused my Part 107 to become non-current for a few weeks, the new Part 107 recurrent courses are finally available! Non-Part 61 Pilots: Activities, Courses, Seminars & Webinars - Course Overview - FAA - FAASTeam - FAASafety.gov Part 61 Pilots: Activities, Courses...

Has any pilot on here ever used, are they credible.

I’m based out of NYC and started using Bark a little over a year ago. While they are the most expensive lead buying service I’ve used, almost all of my biggest clients so far have come from this service. I think they’ve been doing a huge SEO push in the past 18 months and as a result I get...

    FAA Part 107 training/testing pushed to 3/16/21

Actually I had it a bit mixed up. It's not my waiver that requires me to stay within 400' but I routinely fly in JFK airport's 0' zone and my authorization for that requires this for night flights (in addition to requiring me to call LGA and JFK's towers for a "ya whatever" from somebody there)

    FAA Part 107 training/testing pushed to 3/16/21

I haven't read the fine print of the new night rules, but hopefully they're a bit less restrictive than my current night waiver which requires me to keep my UAS within a 400' radius horizontally. On the enormous construction site I've been documenting (check out my Instagram to see where) this...

    FAA Part 107 training/testing pushed to 3/16/21

Somehow it was only $96 for my recurrent test at PSI (for the Coney Island Brooklyn location) but your theory is probably spot on. Had they not issued me a refund I would have just skipped it anyway since it sounds like my current night waiver is obsolete any way and I'd need to take the free...

    FAA Part 107 training/testing pushed to 3/16/21

Didn't realize it'd be so easy to get a refund. Just cancelled my recurrent through PSI and got the refund confirmation email immediately. Now I'll just have to figure out where to take that new course. Anybody know when and where they will be made available?

    FAA Part 107 training/testing pushed to 3/16/21

Mine expires last week of March, but I already scheduled my exam for March 12. Have you ever heard of them issuing refunds on scheduled tests?

Looking for a high nit phone or tablet, any suggestions? good battery life as well?

I’ve been using an 11” iPad Pro and it works great in all but the most bright direct sunlight (get a monitor hood). 600 nits, high-res, 120 hz, and fantastic to own in general.

    Shoulda Called It...

You've piqued my interested. Can you tell us more about when you issue Exclusive vs Non-Exclusive Licenses? Do you base it off of whether or not the footage has commercial value for more people than just your client? Do clients ever have issues with you requesting exclusivity? I'm relatively new...

    Flight Log Software in 2020

I generally like Kittyhawk's mission planning and overall feature set (except for lack of Litchi logging since its a competitor of their own flight planning software), but have experienced some crashes and bugs that make me hesitant to invest more into it. What was the issue you were having?

How fast do you fly for video shots?

Just picture the shot in your head and make it happen. I don't think you should ever be looking at your speed in the middle of a shot. You'll get a feel for how much stick input it'll take to realize your intended movement, and with time it'll be as easy as walking. But to answer your question...

How do you guys handle misinformed, overzealous, or grumpy Law Enforcement? (Or Jurisdiction Conflicts?)

I think I need to hire an attorney to advise on drone laws in NYC since I've heard several interpretations of both the NYC Website screenshot you shared and the law you cited. Although I live in NYC, most of my drone work is outside of the city, but when I do get work here I don't typically...

How do you guys handle misinformed, overzealous, or grumpy Law Enforcement? (Or Jurisdiction Conflicts?)

I honestly haven't done much research on the implications of this bill, but Joshua Bardwell (well-known FPV educator if you're unfamiliar) made an interesting comment in his video about the Remote ID NPRM that made it sound like property owners would have to explicitly designate their 0-200' AGL...
