    So waterproof isn't...really.

In my line of work the rain destroys the optics of the shot anyway. Not to mention my outlook...

Peter Navarro: US responds to threat from Chinese drones – We’re rebuilding American drone industry

Being both a pilot and a remote pilot (like many of you) I think the regulations are strict enough without adding this type of complexity and cost. The old "outlaw guns and only outlaws will have them" premise holds some weight, even with this. With noted exceptions for accidental occurrences...

You are correct, and I do it too. If it isn't a breach of site protocol, which bird do you fly? I have the capability on three of my birds to use the SRTM, but I always end up with "segment not available in one quadrant" when mountains are part of the site.

It's an easy fix with Pix. Load the photos, when the screen comes on that has the photo Exif tags you right click under Altitude and select Edit all altitudes, correct one, and enter. The software will change all the others.

    Dronelink now offers terrain following

That's pretty accurate for a drone position stamp. Mine are always off between 2m-30m in XY, and the Z can be all over the map (no pun intended). I flew a project at 115 feet (35m) and 17 different flights. The Altitude stamps were anywhere between 41m and 116m. All the same drone, same day...

Pix states they can handle differentials in GSD up to one half of the original GSD calculation, IE: if you have a 0.5 initial GSD you can fly to the relative altitude that gives you 0.75 GSD and it will still integrate correctly. That's a pretty big change. Oregon can and does have terrain that...

    Dronelink now offers terrain following

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why the drone following terrain helps. I know it does, just don't really get why. I do this for a living (survey mapping) but it still seems to me that the drone consistently being X# of feet above the terrain throughout the shoot would defeat the...

    Here ya go New York.

They don't let draftsmen make engineering plans without professional oversight. There are very good reasons to have experienced "hoop jumpers" involved with building projects. Just my thoughts on the matter, for what it's worth.

Companies to Help with Waivers, Authorizations, etc.?

I guess I'm old fashioned. If I get denied or approved for what I've submitted, then that's on me. But to get either (especially a denial) because of someone else laying out my game plan for me...yeah not so much. I saw something in the news the other day that sums up how I feel about it: “It's...
