    Finding a Visual Observer

Thanks! I stand corrected. Someone I thought knew the regs better than me led me to believe otherwise. As I read 107.31 I am now convinced that you are right. Perhaps I need to order an FPV given this enlightenment.

    Finding a Visual Observer

Your best bet is to find another FPV pilot. You don’t say where you are located, but keep in mind that flying an FPV with a VO in the US can only be done recreationally. You have posted in the commercial forum where in the US such a setup for commercial flights violates the the rule that a...

Search and Recovery (missing persons, presumed dead)

I had no idea how challenging SAR was until yesterday when I happened upon a group of people searching an area of the Boise National Forest for a lost chihuahua who had been out there for a day and night. I asked if I might be able to help by flying my Mavic 3 drone over the area. While the area...

    LAANC issues

Aloft worked for me in the San Jose Class C airspace 2 weeks ago. It seems that you need to figure out why Aloft won’t accept your registration.

Best strobe color for daytime visibility?

If it has X level of brightness equally distributed between R+G+B, then it must have less R+G = Y than a White strobe. The eye is less sensitive to B. This assumes that any Y strobe is equivalent in luminance to the W strobe

Best strobe color for daytime visibility?

Yellow has the highest phototopic brightness for the human vision system and that is true even for people with color vision deficiency. I am not sure if there is a yellow strobe like the Arc V in yellow.

First Gig - its a weird one.

Music adds a lot to a video. I subscribe to Epidemic Sound for an amazing variety in almost genre. The key to making a good video is to tell a story. As I watch the videos of the best videographers their end product tells a story and generally looks like B-roll. That keeps it interesting and...

    Sir Peter Scott's lighthouse

For someone who says he hasn’t mastered Photoshop you did very well. BTW there are some excellent and inexpensive PS courses on Udemy that make learning this far easier and systematic than watching hundreds of YouTubes. There is always something else to learn about PS, but it is an amazing tool.

    Competitors Bust Airspace

How does one submit for a planned flight in Yosemite? Where is the calendar for those open dates? I was under the impression it was totally banned.

Suggestions on what media to use to delivery pictures and videos to clients

There is one feature in Resolve preferences (the gear at the bottom right) that allows you to Render your media to a lesser resolution for editing, such as quarter resolution. If you do this it puts less demand on your PC. When your editing is complete you have have an option to not use that...

    Litchi Virtual Missions Setup

I have saved myself lots of time by using this methodology. No matter how much I practice I could never fly as smooth of a mission as with Litchi. This method insures you get the shots you really want. Now I am patiently waiting for the Mavic 3 SDK to make it to Litchi so that I can fly...

Suggestions on what media to use to delivery pictures and videos to clients

While there are lots of YouTubes on how to use Resolve, I recommend this very inexpensive course on Udemy. The author has a bit of an accent but is understandable. He takes you from the most beginning level to some of the most advanced features. I had been using Resolve for 2 years, but still...

Suggestions on what media to use to delivery pictures and videos to clients

Good suggestion on Google Drive. I never think about that. For some videos I create an unlisted YouTube, but Google Drive seems more secure. For video you can do almost everything with the free version of Davinci Resolve 17.

    Flying in potential icing conditions

Don’t be just thinking that ice changes to CG are the only issue. The smallest amount of frost can change the laminar low over a wing or prop. Years ago I was part of the launch crew for a manned sailplane that spun in from 1000’ due to the smallest amount of frost on the leading edge of the...
