With FAA proposals for remote ID would you buy a currently produced drone, either new or used?

Ditto. Besides those of us who build our own will be able to add new tech easier than those with off-the-shelf gear.

The good, the bad and the ugly- Remote ID Proposal PRM

Here is the link to the AMA page with their stance on the ID topic. Summary: the AMA advocates for recreational hobbyist fliers only. It appears the AMA had some early input. Sadly, they only kept hobbyists in mind since it is not their charter to advocate for the commercial suas community...

The good, the bad and the ugly- Remote ID Proposal PRM

I do a lot more reading than writing on this forum. This NPRM has prompted me to write. This is a big deal and will disrupt commerce as written. I agree with the premise but it needs a lot of work. It will effectively limit the existing suas fleet to a 400 foot sphere around the transmitter...

Have not seen this light in use before

Thank you for clarifying BigA107. Looks like I have a bit more studying to do for my 107. And thanks for validating the use of these spot lights for SAR missions.

Have not seen this light in use before

Cool idea, a spot light on an sUAS. But utterly useless without a part 333 exemption for night flight. Nothing in AG is so emergent that waiting for daybreak would justify this product. As a SAR product it may have its uses though.

    Entering the Business

It's tough, been trying the same in my area. Most farmers will see you as 'just another guy with a drone'. Don't bother the farmers. They can do it themselves (most do it without part 107).

    Prop Experiment

Congratulations on the new P4P Rodger! Did you special order your FA number sticker? FAA registration took me about 10 minutes, and they e-mailed my registration instantly. I dug through my wife's crafts stuff and found some letter sticker sheets and added them on. Time spent 30 minutes.

    Manned Aircraft Maintenance Cycles

Too true FLYBOYJ. I see 107.15 as a common sense regulation. Do a pre-flight, if something is broken, fix it before flying. And, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Air safety first but don't kill your business with unnecessary maintenance costs.

    Manned Aircraft Maintenance Cycles

Since we all are, or are aspiring to be, commercial drone operators we fall under 14 CFR Part 107. As an A&P I can tell you that Parts 91 and 135 do not apply to drones. Chapter 7 in Advisory Circular 107-2 outlines required maintenance for sUAS aircraft. Par. 7.3.4 gives a suggested pre-flight...

    Manned Aircraft Maintenance Cycles

Battery management is a big deal and is worthy of a new discussion thread. I have 6 batteries for one of my practice quads. I marked each battery with a marker with different letters (A, B, C etc). After they are charged I put a rubber band around them to keep from getting them mixed up with...

    Unexpected copyright issue

Thanks Meta4, sorry I misread post 59. Looks like it worked out well for you after all and have a new customer. Nice! Red.

    Unexpected copyright issue

Meta4 - Intellectual property is a big deal. Enterprises like cruise lines are not out to scam the little guy. I’ve been stung by the copyright thing before in a previous business. My suggestion is to consult with an intellectual property attorney. I did and he saved my bacon. The cruise line...

How often do you see someone flying a drone?

Ok, devil's advocate: How often have you all been seen as pro-drone pilots?

How often do you see someone flying a drone?

I was in a golf tournament a few years ago where the event staff had one flying over the course. At work a couple times, our R&D folks playing around. Besides that, never.

CDP Giveaway - Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian!

Hey, what a deal! Join the forum and get your name in the hat for a cool new P4P. I’ve been flying a little FPV racer for fun and was going to go to Wally World (Walmart) to pick up a P3S to start into some serious flying. I’ll wait on that now and see how this drawing turns out. Good luck all...
