Flying over people and/or moving vehicles

You can fly over cars, but not over people. You can even fly over tents. Any time there's a possibility that it can fall out of the sky and hit someone in the head it is an issue. A car roof or tent is considered adequate protection. I prefer to not to fly over cars because if it falls out of...

What is the highest and the lowest temperature that You flight was made?

I flew in 18 degrees F with my 3DR Solo. I kept the drone and batteries warm right up to the flight, plus I picked one of my healthiest batteries to fly with. I didn't actually measure the time in the air, but I'm sure I didn't get the battery time I would normally get on a warm day. Below is...

    Unexpected copyright issue

It all goes back to intent (what he says ^^^^) If you are a photographer in the COMMERCIAL sense, and someone thinks you are making $ off an image of their property, the rules change. I think that even using the image on a website that promotes your COMMERCIAL business will get you in trouble...

What is everyone flying? Current projects?

Solex is only available on Android. Its greatest feature is calculating how fast your battery is discharging versus the distance you are from home. It will do a RTH if it sees you won't make it back. This is important because our batteries are getting old, and they discharge at a faster rate.

What is everyone flying? Current projects?

Its in my bookmark list: having video feed problems" For foam, I used an ear plug cut down to size with scissors. I pinched the HDMI port with needle-nose pliers. The first time I did it, I didn't pinch it hard enough and had to tear the drone back down. The second time I pinched it so hard I...

What is everyone flying? Current projects?

I picked the Peau 3.97mm, and I am going to let them do the mods. I can do it, but I don't feel like it. Plus, if they break it, they fix it. Its winter and I'm not flying much, so now is the time to send it off. I also plan to tear down my drones to apply vibration reducing mods, when I have...

What is everyone flying? Current projects?

I have a trio of 3DR Solos. One is registered private for fun flying so family and friends can use it. It has no camera on it. Its also a backup in a pinch. What I dislike about the Solos are the aging batteries. I have to do calibrations to keep them going, but age will catch up with them...

ARTICLE: Who owns the air above your home?

This link indicates no laws in the state of Kentucky, which is exactly what local law enforcement told me last fall. I flew a nearby abandoned mansion recently. I made sure I was standing on the sidewalk the entire time so I wasn't trespassing. The local paper had even ran an article on the...

Why is the real estate industry so chintzy?

I don't know what an "LEO" is. Regardless, the city police here enforce laws for the state of Kentucky, not the FAA. That's what they told me. They were clueless about the FAA regulations. I'm sure this will vary from state-to-state, but it will be a long time before that kind of oversight hits...

    Greetings from Kentucky!

The footage was shot in west Mercer County, near Rose Hill. I've been told I was flying from the highest point in Mercer County. The only difficulty I had was with my hands getting too cold. I kept the drone and battery warm right up until I flew. I got about 8 minutes of flight time on this...

Why is the real estate industry so chintzy?

How is the FAA going to enforce this? Will they have agents waiting by the phone to hop in a car to catch someone flying? Some cops from the local police force asked *me* what the laws were regarding drones. They said that there are no KY statutes on the books regarding drones. Until someone...

    Questions for part 107 pilots

The 3DR website has the best practice tests that I found, and they are *free*! https://3dr.com/faa/drone-practice-tests/ The majority of my exam questions were on reading charts. I actually bought a paper chart (they are cheap!) to help me study. Also, I used the AeroWeather app on my phone to...

    Greetings from Kentucky!

Hello fellow forum members! I got my 107 back in May, and I fly commercially for weflylex.com. We are DBA under the IT consulting firm, Next Century Technologies. I have done several marketing projects in the central KY area. I own a trio of 3DR Solos. Here's a project I did this month after...
