    DJI Agras Remote ID Module

The Agras series are Standard RID compliant. You don’t need a module. And how is the module limiting range? They’re not part of the flight control systems.

    Flight denial on LAANC?

A few things going on here. First, you don't have a waiver, you have an airspace authorization. Two different things. But both come from the DroneZone. And if you already have an airspace authorization, why do you need another one? You're not clear on that. The FAA is even using the wrong...

    Flying over people

It will soon be much easier to get OOP/OOMV waivers. The OOP waiver approval policy at the FAA's Waiver Office is in it's final approval stage. I expect final word soon. You'll still need a smaller drone or possibly a parachute, but we'll start seeing many more 107.39/107.145 Waivers being...

Bahamas charge for drones to be used

$30 isn't bad. I wish all countries would do something similar. Mexico in particular.

A quick article about working around the current FAA DJI DOC issues.

If you are confused by that string of acronyms, you aren't alone. Basically, the latest publications of DJI's FAA Remote ID Declaration of Compliances has a major issues. This include some of the older Mavic and Phantom models. Instead of having a range of approved RID serial numbers, it only...

    Visibility Question For 107

Rule of thumb is don't fly further than you're safe. And 3 miles out is never safe.

    Part 108

Part 108 was mentioned in the BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee's report. It's a possible (likely?) additional certification for extended BVLOS operations like inspections and deliveries. As of now, the FAA is on the beginning stages of determining viability.

    Visibility Question For 107

The 3SM visibility requirement is not for the RPIC or VO. Even if you could see the strobe at 3SM, you are not satisfying all aspects of 107.31. The reason the RPIC and VO must be able to see the drone is so they can: "(1) Know the unmanned aircraft's location; (2) Determine the unmanned...

Proposed NYC rule change would kill the industry there.

Proposed NYC rule change would kill the industry there.

Call again for comments on the proposed NYC drone rules change. As of today, there are only 13 comments, including one who is for the changes (it sounds like she hates drones, so there's that...). Mine will be approved within a day or so. We need to comment on this, even if you don't ever...

    Posting Images

Your drone needs to be registered always, unless you're flying recreationally with a sub 250g drone. I'm not sure what you mean here. But if you're flying to take photos or video for stock sales, you have to have a 107 as well. Which means the drones needs to be registered no matter the weight...

Sept 16, 2023 The End of An Era

No. Kevin Morris, "FAA Drone Guy" mentioned at an XPO session last month that he would be very surprised if that happened. The only reason it was pushed back (selective enforcement is the term I believe) for manufacturers is because the RDQ lawsuit about RID took so long to be decided. We have...

    National Park Service Drone Shoot

The production company dealt with all of the insurance and permitting. But yes, flying a drone from NPS lands and waters is a royal PITA. And it shouldn't be.

Sept 16, 2023 The End of An Era

There are currently numerous RID Modules for sale, but you don't need to get one now. Just wait. The M200 may be a dinosaur in the UAS world, but only in the realm of technology. When it comes to RID, there are no dinosaur drones. Modules will be fine.
