BVLOS waivers - can having a private pilots license help to get one?

The FAA publishes what information they want for waivers. You can find a number of links on the Part 107 Waivers & Airspace Authorizations page. The most important are: https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/part_107_waivers#WSEG...

OOP/OOMV PRS Comparison ParaZero with Waiver Vs AVSS with Category 2 DOC Approval

BIlly Kyle flew the AVSS a few days ago. If you're going to fly the Mavic 3 E or Mavic 3 T, it's probably a better way to go. No waiver needed. But if you want to fly any of the other Mavic 3 series, you'll need a waiver and the ParaZero. I'm surprised Billy used the Mavic 3 E on the video...

    Utility Line Class and Certification

They are no longer in business. Most utilities have their own training each pilot needs to go through. Do you have experience with telecom work?

Online Ground School: Aviation Classes - Pilot Institute, hands down the best. And they have other classes, as well as free videos. Check out the deep dive videos for a good example of how Greg and crew present the info.

    New OOP (107.39) approval policy.

Yesterday (5/6/24), the FAA finally sent out Requests for Information (RFI) for those who's OOP waivers have been languishing in the queue. We now have a new set of guidelines (not a new regulation) for when we apply for an OOP (107.39) waiver. You can get the fully skinny here...

    DJI Agras Remote ID Module

The Agras series are Standard RID compliant. You don’t need a module. And how is the module limiting range? They’re not part of the flight control systems.

    Flight denial on LAANC?

A few things going on here. First, you don't have a waiver, you have an airspace authorization. Two different things. But both come from the DroneZone. And if you already have an airspace authorization, why do you need another one? You're not clear on that. The FAA is even using the wrong...

    Flying over people

It will soon be much easier to get OOP/OOMV waivers. The OOP waiver approval policy at the FAA's Waiver Office is in it's final approval stage. I expect final word soon. You'll still need a smaller drone or possibly a parachute, but we'll start seeing many more 107.39/107.145 Waivers being...

Bahamas charge for drones to be used

$30 isn't bad. I wish all countries would do something similar. Mexico in particular.

A quick article about working around the current FAA DJI DOC issues.

If you are confused by that string of acronyms, you aren't alone. Basically, the latest publications of DJI's FAA Remote ID Declaration of Compliances has a major issues. This include some of the older Mavic and Phantom models. Instead of having a range of approved RID serial numbers, it only...

    Visibility Question For 107

Rule of thumb is don't fly further than you're safe. And 3 miles out is never safe.

    Part 108

Part 108 was mentioned in the BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee's report. It's a possible (likely?) additional certification for extended BVLOS operations like inspections and deliveries. As of now, the FAA is on the beginning stages of determining viability.
