Mavic 3 Enterprise - Looking for Feedback

I don't own an M3E, but tested one recently. See Comparing Evo II Enterprise to Mavic 3 Enterprise for Mapping

Airframe Recommendations for Mapping - 2022

Looking for recommendations for new mapping setup. For ease of transport, I'd like to stick with a quadcopter if possible. I'm aware that there are several 'boutique' type designers and assemblers in the USA, but haven't really been able to sort through them for something that is affordable...

    RTK setup for Firefly6 Pro

Nope, Emlid has nothing to do with it. The red wire is actually the signal lead (on the 3 pin 'RTK' connector) , which syncs with the hotshoe from the camera for geotagging. Power and ground on that lead are not connected to anything. The actual GPS connection (for RTK) is via the GPS...

    RTK setup for Firefly6 Pro

Also just getting spooled up on a used FF6, and am looking for more info on the GPS. Not sure what you mean by 4 pin connector- there needs to be a wire (single red) attached to the GPS, Aux6 of the Pixhawk, and the first pin of the payload connector. Pictures of my working system attached...

    Wanted: Birdseyeview Firefly6 Payload

Looking for a camera for the FF6. Well, really just looking for the camera interface, but would be interested in the camera too. Ideally A6000, but any RGB option would be considered.

    Topodrone PPK Kit

Have you seen any recent research indicating that this is still pertinent? I believe most major post processing software now compensates for rolling shutter. Though I totally agree that the M2P is not a serious mapping tool...

    Any Pix4D>Civil 3D experts

What is the actual problem? C3d crashes on the SAVEAS or QSAVE command? Nothing happens? It throws an error? I've been using C3d since the Land Desktop days and can't remember having a problem saving a drawing. What is the workflow from Pix4d? If you are building the C3d surface from DEM...

Terrain Aware or Fixed altitude for Mapping (Ortho, 3D and cut/fill calculation)

Thanks for clarifying that- seems like a solid workflow. I'm not a RLS, but I work with and for surveyors, and have been using survey equipment for 20 years- and I've learned its extremely important to trust but verify your tools. It's also important to know the limits of the equipment, and...

Terrain Aware or Fixed altitude for Mapping (Ortho, 3D and cut/fill calculation)

This is exactly why I don't believe that TA is worth the hype!!! I also don't want to make this an equipment contest, and I'm not criticizing your setup. But... How could you possibly know if your TA processed dataset was more accurate than your non-TA when you are verifying with that...

Terrain Aware or Fixed altitude for Mapping (Ortho, 3D and cut/fill calculation)

That is a compelling graphic. But- still disingenuous, because the results would be equivalent if one planned a mission for a specific GSD at the lowest expected elevation. As Chasco pointed out earlier, this would lead to excessive overlap at the higher elevations. I don't mean to...

Terrain Aware or Fixed altitude for Mapping (Ortho, 3D and cut/fill calculation)

I'm with you! Dug a little bit into Pix4d, and while they recommend TA, if you interpret this statement (and supporting equations) in the context of TA, we have healthy range to work with: "Considering that the flight height and the GSD have a linear relationship, for the same project...

Terrain Aware or Fixed altitude for Mapping (Ortho, 3D and cut/fill calculation)

I think the downside is complicating something that doesn't need to be complicated. Perhaps this would make more sense with a LiDAR payload, but I am still skeptical of any actual/meaningful improvements to a SfM point cloud. Another reason for my skepticism is the resolution of the DEM data...
