One of the issues I have with the DJI controller is thee is no way to trim the drone when flying in ATTi mode. I do realize that most don't fly in the ATTi mode but it would be nice to be able to trim it.

I was fooling around practice hovering in the ATTI mode and with out the ability to trim the thing out it isn't very easy.

I do realize in the GPS mode that trim functions aren't needed.

Most Flight Controllers today shouldn't be trimmed. It conflicts with the gyros etc and can cause erratic behavior. It took me a while to get my mind wrapped around that coming from Old School R/C but when I start flying Flight Controller aircraft with gyros etc. I had one that kept "creeping" a local pilot walked up and said, "You've tried trimming it haven't you?" Sure enough we set everything back to 0,0,0 and it calmed right now.

Thanks BigA, I haven't flown RC fixed wing, or helicopters so I wasn't aware of that. I just know I would hate trying to fly an aircraft without trim capabilities, so I was looking at it from a different perspective.

Almost all of the mini or sport drones (sub $100) have the ability to trim 3 axis'. Of course, these usually do NOT have GPS and have some semblance of altitude hold via a micro-barometer with very basic functionality, say for indoor flying.

As stated above, ATTI or attitude mode is really the fail safe for GPS equipped quads, a mostly manual "stick and rudder" method of flying and definitely a good skill developer. Many, including myself, encourage new operators to start with a small sport drone for that very reason.

Basic flying of DJI flying cameras are somewhat easy compared to the small manual flying drones which require all of your attention usually.
