I wasn’t sure where to post this, but as it’s another type of mapping, has anyone used a portable proton precession magnetometer to do ground surveys with your drone? Curious how it went and about the equipment you used. I was looking at some online DIY designs for those, and they’re actually quite simple, it would be a good demonstration and activity for my students.

There is a company in San Jose, Ca, that designs and manufactures magnetometers, they are called Geometrics. They may be a place to start.

Thank you for the reference Dan. That company has some pretty high-end equipment, I can’t imagine how much their UAS unit would cost. It also looks like they have a significant drone to lift it with! We are actually making a hand-held portable PPM (proton precession magnetometer) that is quite sensitive and could be flown, but I imagine it’s no where is sensitive is that unit you referred to.
