As I understand it, the P4P 2.0 wasn't discontinued due to lack of demand. The $150 million employee corruption/fraud caused DJI to have difficulty paying for the parts from their suppliers, in particular the camera. The other variations of the P4 (RGB and RTK) remained in production. They seem to have recovered enough and will have enough parts to resume P4P 2.0 production in January. The P4P is proven and works well for all kinds of missions, glad to see it coming back. I'd like to see a P5, but the market appears to like the Mavic style collapsible form factor better, so eventually the Mavic will take over the low end commercial models.
