Useful tips to remember when filming at sea

A few more bits of advice:

1) If you are going to do a compass calibration, do it on land before you leave if you are on a vessel with a primary structure of steel.
2) When taking off of a vessel primarily of steel you may need to have a crew member hold it above the deck for a hand launch - a steel deck will give you bad compass errors.
3) After you take off CLIMB to a safe altitude above any mast, antenna's etc to eliminate any chance of the boat drifting into your GPS locked drone. (I have a story about a brand new $25K FLIR equipped Inspire lost w/ only 15 minutes air time)
4) Yes, as mentioned, be careful if you use return to home if you have moved and you will need to CANCEL the RTH when it gets close - I would never, ever try to RTH and land on a boat out on the water.

New to this forum, not new to the industry or drone forums :)
