Proposed NYC rule change would kill the industry there.

It's not about red and blue, it's all about big corporations trying to get the small operators out of their way so they can own the skies for delivery and small transport. And in New York it's not even that. It's just about keeping the status quo.

Proposed NYC rule change would kill the industry there.

What would ever make you think that they would do the right thing? After reading their proposal, I wrote a letter to them, but I didn't expect anything to change. Now I'm not disappointed. They did exactly as I expected they would. They don't want drones, so they're not going to let them fly.

    Recurrent Question

I always fly under my part 107 but I have a trust certificate, just in case one day I decide to fly recreationally.

    Recurrent Question

You need to have the trust certificate if you want to fly recreationally, otherwise you're flying under part 107.

How do you charge for filming cinematic footage?

As a photographer, you always retain the rights to what you shoot. You can sell the raw video to the client if you want, or you can license it per use, or perpetually, however you like. Like. Unless you sign away your rights to the footage, you always own it and can license it to whomever you...

Interesting case for trespass with a drone in Michigan

This is more of a case of warrantless search by a government agency than it is about privacy. Privacy laws are clear. If you don't want somebody seeing something you do, do it where they can't see. If you parade around naked in front of your large glass windows at your home and you don't have...

Washington State Drone Registration Required starting April 1 2022

Once again doesn't Federal registration take precedence over another state trying to build us of more money?

    Too cautious ..help

Face away from the sun when possible. Find landmarks below for reference. A strobe can help too, all good ideas above. Maybe bring a friend to act as a VO when you can. Four eyes are better then two. This way you can look down at the screen to compose your shots.

    Beware of... kites!

I tend to watch the drone, line up my shot, make sure my flight path will be clear then I try to hold the screen so I can see it AND the drone in flight. Or as you say I would find a VO. As you say though sometimes it's hard to see obstacles, a kite string would be tough from distance.

    New Pilot Looking For Advice

I don't know much about surveying or thermography so I can't give much advice to that. I do videography. Maybe you can take some classes and learn what you don't know. I watch a lot of video on YouTube. DroneU talks a lot about the more technical areas like thermography. Maybe take a look at...
