    Drones with cattle

I think that could well be. The key to filming animals (rather than their backsides as they run away!), is understanding their temperament and behaviour. I found an ebook - Cow Talk, Moran & Doyle CSIRO Publishing. Good or bad I know not, but they do make the following points, summarised...

    Drones with cattle

My experience in the UK is that they don't like drones at all. Our inspire 2 produces a consistent response when within 200 - 300' - heads go up and they run! For that reason I'm always cautious when cattle are penned, just in case they panic. All the farmers I've worked with say that the...

    CAA to withdraw from EASA

Am I missing something I thought that the new UAS regulations where dependent upon being part of EASA. Doesn't CAP 1789 hinge on being part of "The EU UAS Regulation Package"? Can someone elucidate please?

    New UK regulations EASA

Just received this newsletter from Heliguy which clarifies things further (for me anyway!). Perhaps not worth abandoning the PfCO just yet.

    CAA audits

I think that they have always made random inpections of PfCO holders records (it's in the permission that they have the right to inspect your records etc.). Perhaps it's just a polite reminder! I do wonder though whether they are able to make independent inspections of RPQ-s holders (i.e...

Any others switched to Davinci Resolve for Post Work?

If you have a high spec graphics card you'll love it. If you don't you won''t!

    Delay in UK registration

At least they've backed off re permission holders taking another test!! Cheek. I still think that it's an afront to expect us to pay another fee though, even though it's a token charge.

    New UK regulations EASA

Good idea. My first thought is that I'm not sure whether I should register as the PfCO holder or as a qualified pilot, as I am both. I belive that either way is OK. My second thought is that I may as well tear up my PfCO if this goes ahead in its present form?

Inspire 2, Changing the Vibration Absorbing Board (Gimbal Mounting Board)

We had image transmission / gimbal control intermittent problems with our I2 recently and traced the fault to the gimbal. It was actually a problem with the internal switch (which registers the position of the bayonet ring) not making consistently. I've just swapped the board (DJI part 23) and...

    Hard foam castings

I've tried a few designs to pack difficult shapes using expanding foam but found it to me a messy business! I used the components to form the shape of the mould, which did work, but you would not want to apply that idea to anything too sensitive - it just keeps expanding!!

    Premier Pro and Inspire 2

A couple of points raise questions: Can you expand on what you mean by everything else please? Interlacing was designed to reduce flicker, because at 25fps (on PAL TV systems) flicker was a problem, so perhaps that answers your question. As a starting point it's worth thinking about how the...

UK - Risk Assessments - Do you write the same things over and over again?

Thanks for the reponses - I suppose we're all going the same way by trying to take the repetiitive writing work out of the job one way or another. But ii's the implication of accuracy which I find rather tedious about filling in RAs. The idea of making subjective judgments about risk...

UK - Risk Assessments - Do you write the same things over and over again?

I tend to be doing the same kind of work in the same areas quite a lot. Consequently many of my RAs look strikingly similar! By this I mean that I encounter the same kinds of risks all the time - minor roads, public footpaths, loose sheep etc., etc.. I'm wondering about developing a better...

Lightening Fast 4 day PfCO Renewal (UK)!

Mine too was very quick this time, even allowing for a couple of ops manual corrections. The comments I had were: "Geoff" on insurance, "Geoffrey" on application, not to use CAA logo without prior agreement, and trading name being different from my name had to be qualified by "trading as"...
