    State Park authorization

Thank you all for the help. It’s in a National Park as AirMap describes it, and in one of their red zones. The consistency is where I have an issue. I was flying in Oakland Ca last week where I received an authorization for a 50ft cell, received an unlock code which I inputted but it failed...

    State Park authorization

I fly for a TV show (Inspire2) and have flown in national parks before without getting locked out by the software. I’m being asked to fly at Paradise Cove in Malibu which is in a national park and AirMap is showing no authorization available but the California Film Commission is asking for...

    POTENTIAL ISSUE

Someone tried to scam me a couple months ago. I placed an add for a video output board for an Inspire 2 controller, and someone contacted me offering a used Cendence below market. There were pictures of it, and an explanation saying that the owner was getting out of the market and just wanted...

Clients wants aerial Real Estate pics for $1.42 each

I’ve been working in the entertainment industry in Hollywood for 35 years. Operating a drone for a network show for the last 3, and a member of 3 unions. Because I’ve noticed some comments about Hollywood unions here, I would like to help shed some light on who does what (jurisdiction) as far...

NPR ON Point: Are drones dangerous?

Unfortunately it is relevant. Policy makers listen to them to. So sad so many think NPR is fair and unbiased.

    Kiss em’ goodbye.

The draft is a dry read, but this is our business so everyone who would benefit from utilizing these proposals please read it all. It’s far from a “just go fly over people “ rule change. Much has to be done on the manufacturing side alone. I wouldn’t expect any new opportunities for at least a...

    Aviation Handheld Radios

No license. But a word if you don’t mind. I’m Part 61, General class Ham, and of course 107. As a First AD in the film world I’ve had to communicate with camera helicopters from my hand held, but that’s work on a coordinated freq. What you’re thinking of is not the best idea. In the drone world...

    Renewing Part 107 Remote Pilot?

A quick note, I’m current Part 61 and did the online test. The workflow after completion of that is to print out the certificate and take it down to a DPE (designated pilot examiner) These guys are independent and are not employed by the FAA. You can usually find them at larger flight schools...

    Private Airstrip rules

Thanks for the reminder. I usually do...that’s what you call a brain fart.

    Private Airstrip rules

I have work for a client next month for TV at Jumbolair, a private avaition community near Ocala Fl. The flight is around one of the homes on the property (100ft) and I have permission from the airport owner. It is in Class Golf and no geofence on the DJI map. As a part 61 I intend to monitor...

    Phantom 4 and Adobe

What are your sequence settings? They should match the video. Even if they don’t match, when you drop the video into the timeline a dialogue box should pop up telling you they don’t and asking if you want to change them to match.

Real, legit, bill paying drone business

I do, but it’s in the TV industry, a very clicky and competitive world. 1 season produces 9 months of work.
