How did the Skydio2 work for orthomapping and DTM generation? I currently have a PvP2 and interested in getting a Skydio2 to use for mapping when the site is not as friendly for the PvP2.

Hello and welcome. What kind of drone do you fly?

Thank you!! Had a few small toy drones at the start to get the controls and flying down. Flew some other DJIs with friends to get an understanding of bigger drones. Held off on buying one for a while to get the P4Pv2 with the better camera with the intentions of mapping.

Located in the state of Connecticut. Land surveyor and farmer Got my part 107 I am looking forward to learning more about using drones for mapping and farming applications. Currently have a Phantom 4 pro v2 and been using ODM for processing. I learned a bunch already from this community...

Now that time has passed any new thoughts about ODM? It seems like some people are getting some pretty good results. I have been using ODM but haven't used the other "big box" software to compare it with.

All very great points. I would like to bring up that it is possible to post process GPS observations using NGS OPUS Solutions for free. Like everything else there is a learning curve and accuracy limitations but it is available. You would still need a survey grade GNSS unit but wouldn't need...

As an PLS myself I completely agree with the above. I hear fellow surveyors say it is a threat but I see it as another tool in the box to use and new opportunities. Its just like when GPS came out in the 90s. Some surveyors thought it as crazy voodoo numbers from the sky and never touched it...
