Hi, how did you all go about preparing for your Part 107 exam? What online classes or exam prep did you guys use to prepare?

To fly drones at my work, we initially required passing the FAA Private Pilot written test - before Part 107 was in effect.

The first time, I used Gleim for their FAA PP exam, supplemented by Dauntless Aviation's practice test.

I used Gleim and Dauntless 2 years later as well.

The next exam, 2 years later, was when Part 107 was available. I used Gleim and Dauntless again.

The last exam, I used Gold Seal because they had a really good lifetime deal.

I used a course from King Schools. It probably was not required, but I think it helped the information stick. It was easier to study for me watching a video presentation, and it makes sure you cover all the areas and gives the process some structure. King's web interface could use some modernizing, but it worked.

Be careful of the books that just give you example questions, that's exactly what they are, examples. The FAA questions are structured the same but worded differently, you need to know the information to feel confident answering them. I went through 2 ASA books and the first time I never actually took the test. It's good reference but not a training course.

As @shooter I used GoldSeal to prepare for my Part 107 and passed on my first attempt. They guarantee you pass if you follow their plan and instructions or they pay for your retake of the exam.

Easy to follow videos, a lot of practice tests and final exam and quick to reply to any questions I had. I found a lot of their questions matched the exam almost verbatim.

I used Remote Pilot 101(remotepilot101.com) and think they are great. It's a lifetime deal as well.

Thanks everyone! I will look into all this. I did come across a Youtube channel...Pilot Training Systems. I saw they posted a video announcing a free drone training course. I am going to check that out first since it's free.

While I used remotepilot101 for my certification, the following list is good material to supplement any other tools you chose to use.

Part 107 Study:

1. Tony Northrup video and associated fact sheet. Watch this video first. Then watch it again. That will kill a few hours. See his web page for additional information.

2. The Official FAA Study Guide. This is comprehensive and contains just about everything you need to know.

3. Read the actual text of the Part 107 regulation. There are test questions on this.

4. Familiarize yourself with the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and the Testing Supplement for Remote Pilot, you will be given the supplement to use during the test. Don't spend too much time on either, though.

Hey, I did mine a while ago. I originally paid for an online subscription and passed my exam but the course was fairly difficult (and I don’t remember much of it, honestly). I saw that Pilot Training System released a youtube vid that says that they’re releasing their drone training course for free in response to the coronavirus. Their youtube channel looks legit and I've heard good things, so I'd check it out tbh. Here's the link if you want:

Good luck

I used the Unmanned Aerial University and thought they did a great job. uxvuniversity.com. Most importantly I passed on the first try!

2 years ago, I watched Tony Northrop's video several times and took notes. I passed with a 90. This year, I just reviewed the notes. I passed with a 75. I guess I should have watched the video a couple more times.

I too used RemotePilot 101, the lifetime deal is what got me :). 96% first time, 87% on the last test (they do seem to be making them harder).
