I am still putting together my business, I am a current 107 holder.
Three UAVs in my fleet.
  • One heavily modified solo
  • One mildly modified solo
  • DIY X8, Flying a Zcam E1 (in progress)
I came to all of this from video production, (enthusiast)
  • Camera gear
  • Panasonic GX85
  • Panasonic GH3
  • ZCam E1
  • Gopro 4 Black Modified with a 3.97 lens
  • Gopro 3 Used mostly for diving

Tascam Audio recorder
Adobe Creative Cloud for most of post work

Supporter of Ardupilot

My niche will be resort / rental properties and travel blogs.

I have a year on my remote pilot so will be preparing to retest mid year.

The big challenge for those of us trying to make money at this, is to find a way to set ourselves apart from hobbyist who are undercutting the industry.
Nothing against people who want to fly recreationally, I do that too
But with no enforcement coming from the FAA, people are producing work unimpeded with no certification, no insurance, and no real respect for what the industry can and must become. I mean from the video production angle.

There are other UAV applications that will be to expensive for hobbyist to get involved in.

I do believe, responsible skilled UAV pilots will be in demand. The industry is exploding. And many commercial applications require UAV and Payload investments that owners will not want to put in the hands of a typical RTF users
