Hi everyone,

Thank you to all of the contributors on this site! I'm new to drones and photography, so I'll need a lot of help as I move forward with my new side "business". My dad asked me to get into this to supplement his real estate business. I passed the part 107 exam a few weeks ago, received my Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 yesterday. I would really like to get into the construction progress side of things, as that is something that will be relatively new to my area.

I'm going to start out slow and hope to learn a lot about the drone's capabilities and basic photography over the next few weeks. Any advice on photography resources to help shorten the learning curve? Also looking for recommendations on photo/video editing software.

Initially, I was planning on using an iPhone 8 plus to fly, but now I'm leaning more toward an iPad. I'll be using DJI GO 4 for now, but would like to start playing around with Litchi as well. Should I go straight for Litchi, or take the time to learn DJI GO 4 before jumping in head first?

Again, thank you for the wealth of information on this site. I look forward to working with all of you!

Ryan

Welcome Ryan, the iPad Pro's are great monitors. We would suggest to learn the Go 4 App inside and and out. There is nothing wrong with the 3rd party apps and they have their place. There are always little differences in all the apps that you will find as you try them.

Welcome to the forum, lots of knowledgeable folks here. I agree, stick with DJI until you are very comfortable with it. As you progress learn to fly in the Atti mode.
I'm in the construction documentation business and have done a lot of real estate work, roof inspections, ect.
You will find that your phantom is perfect for doing roof inspections that give you excellent documentation of the roofs exterior condition.

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Will the P4P also be suitable for construction documentation, or is there another drone that you would recommend for that?

Yes I think you could, but since I fly both, when I see the difference between the I2 and P4P photos If you really got into construction documentation I would go with the I2. I spent a great deal of time leaning and practicing with my drone before I ever did any commercial work.
