I posted this over in the mavicpilots forum but haven't gotten a reply yet; figured I'd try here too. :)

I'm currently using a 9th gen iPad to fly with. Unfortunately, it's "only" a 32Gb version, and I keep running out of space...which slows down the 3 apps I fly with (Go4, DD, Litchi).

So I'm looking around and I see a 5th gen iPad Air 64Gb version for a reasonable price; seems to have a better processor and screen resolution.

Would the ipad air be an upgrade? I know very little about apple products (this ipad is the only apple device I've ever used), but I have researched the heck out of it. Any advice would be great!

The latest Air is a pretty significant upgrade from the standard iPads, but I would definitely make contact with your software vendors to make sure it is supported. It may work, but you may not get support.

Thanks; it does indeed look like an upgrade (except it's not any brighter). Checking the supported devices list is a great idea!

I bought that ipad air 5th gen yesterday. I transferred all my apps/settings from my ipad last night, and plan to begin testing it at lunchtime today. :)

I didn't get a chance to test it on Friday, but I did try the new ipad air on a job today, and was glad I brought my ipad 9th gen with me just in case...because I couldn't get the m2p connected to the new ipad. Thankfully I got the job done just fine with the ipad, then did some troubleshooting with the ipad air tonight. Turns out I just had the wrong cables...they were charge-only cables. I grabbed a known good data xfr / charge cable, and I was able to get my m2p connected to the new ipad air just fine.

I can tell the whole interface is much snappier on the new ipad air, and it's very nice to have the extra storage as a buffer. I'll be testing it out tomorrow at lunch, then will hopefully be able to use it Tuesday for an actual job...and then wipe / sell the ipad 9th gen!
