So the lessons learned here:
be terrain aware prior to takeoff.
if at first you don't succeed, mow, mow again.
if you are going to perform a mapping flight at a fixed altitude to maintain your GSD, terrain following is definitely a big plus.

This was a result of a malfunction with a new autonomous software and operator error with altitude correction for this flight zone. A few mistakes were made but the lessons learned are lasting. We were just amazed at the resilience of this bird. Surely, the electronics will fail in the near future due to moisture/short circuits but it is just great to see how equipment can take a good beating.
