Hi everyone,

I’m currently doing research for a startup in the drone software field, and I’d love to hear from people who actually use drones in real-world mapping and surveying operations.

I’m not focusing on military or fixed-wing drones, but rather commercial multirotor drones (both prosumer and enterprise).

Specifically, I’d like to understand:

  1. Which drones are you currently flying?
    (DJI, Skydio, Parrot, Autel, etc.)
  2. What makes them great?
(Unique features, reliability, ecosystem, AI/autonomy, payloads, sensors, etc.)
  3. What’s frustrating or limiting about them?
(Battery life, software, lock-in, regulations, payload restrictions, geotagging accuracy, etc.)
  4. From your perspective, which platforms seem to be gaining adoption in 2025?
  5. Do you use or wish you had open SDKs, fleet management, or cloud integration?
  6. Do you think the market is consolidating around DJI, or are other brands (Skydio, Parrot, Autel, etc.) finding their niche?

Any perspective, from hobbyists to industrial users, would be extremely valuable.

If you have a few minutes, I also created a short Google Form to collect responses more systematically: [Insert link here]

Thanks so much for your time and insights!
