Hi everyone,
I’m currently doing research for a startup in the drone software field, and I’d love to hear from people who actually use drones in real-world mapping and surveying operations.
I’m not focusing on military or fixed-wing drones, but rather commercial multirotor drones (both prosumer and enterprise).
Specifically, I’d like to understand:
Any perspective, from hobbyists to industrial users, would be extremely valuable.
If you have a few minutes, I also created a short Google Form to collect responses more systematically: [Insert link here]
Thanks so much for your time and insights!

Specifically, I’d like to understand:
- Which drones are you currently flying?
(DJI, Skydio, Parrot, Autel, etc.) - What makes them great?
(Unique features, reliability, ecosystem, AI/autonomy, payloads, sensors, etc.) - What’s frustrating or limiting about them?
(Battery life, software, lock-in, regulations, payload restrictions, geotagging accuracy, etc.) - From your perspective, which platforms seem to be gaining adoption in 2025?
- Do you use or wish you had open SDKs, fleet management, or cloud integration?
- Do you think the market is consolidating around DJI, or are other brands (Skydio, Parrot, Autel, etc.) finding their niche?
Any perspective, from hobbyists to industrial users, would be extremely valuable.
