I'm curious because I've read a few posts talking about the differences between the M2x vs M2x Enterprise mostly coming down to the outer body allowing attachments and one additional connector to allow, said attachments to work on command.

With that said, could one change the camera on a non-enterprise M2 to a thermal camera and it works? (Aside from DJI firmware blocking this.)

Thoughts?

I have never seen that done, those cameras on not easy to come by. It is a few thousand dollar camera attached to an $800 drone.

I have opened up plenty of Mavic 2 Pros, and it looks like there is a spot on the main board for another camera to be attached concurrently, but that is just my speculation. If you had a Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced camera and a taken apart Mavic 2 pro, I think the hardware should fit together. As you say the software/firmware seems like it would be a big hurdle.

Have you considered renting a thermal drone until you are ready to purchase?
Great advice and thank you. I’m not so much exploring as I’m just trying to learn the extent of customization.

Just out of curiosity what does one rent for?
