Hey everyone,
I've been seeing a lot of discussions lately about RTK issues, payload limits, and especially the nightmare of geo-fencing when you're trying to execute critical missions or mapping runs near restricted zones. It's frustrating when the hardware is more than capable, but software locks prevent you from getting the job done on time.
One solution that a lot of commercial operators are shifting toward is using "Export Editions" or international versions of enterprise hardware (like the M3E/M3T). Since these are unrestricted by the regional firmware limits often applied to local stock, they bypass a lot of the forced geo-fencing and altitude caps right out of the box. You still have to follow the FAA/local regulations, of course, but it puts the liability and control back in the hands of the pilot-in-command rather than the manufacturer's algorithm.
We’ve found this approach massively reduces downtime waiting for unlock codes when a job pops up unexpectedly near a controlled zone.
Has anyone else made the switch to export models for their fleet? If you are looking to source these, feel free to DM me—I've got connections in HK that can source unrestricted stock directly. Would love to hear your experiences and if it's solved the headaches for your operations too!
Cheers,
Nova
