Wondering if anyone can share experiences with using a tether for their drone. Are they easy to use? Do they extend the utility of the drone? Thanks

We work with the Elistair and Blue Vigil Tether Systems quite a bit, primarily in public safety. The Blue Vigil RS1000 is the most affordable system available but it doesn't have the bells and whistles that Elistair's systems have. On the RS1000 you've got 164 feet of tether line, which isn't a lot my any means, but you can put up to two 100 foot extensions on the system to get up to 364 feet.

They are very easy to use. When you are using line extensions they do get a bit more tricky as the extensions do not spool into the system and you end up having quite a but of tether line to manage outside of the box.

Outside of public safety we have some private security companies that run them at events (namely tennis and golf) and then a few production companies that use during live streaming.

As @skiptv and @Ajkm mentioned above, they open up opportunities for waivers in restricted airspace. Last week we just had an RS1000 system go out to a local engineering firm working on a facade inspection project next to LAX and they would only grant authorization if they used a tether system.

Our team is happy to discuss your use applications, and always happy to do local demos, or arrange for demos with our client base that have tether systems.
